Dear Jesus, I’m closer to 40 than I am to 3o now. That sentence is frightening. I usually am not one to freak out about getting older, but that 4-0 number scares me. Not that I think I should have more things done before then, because I feel like I have lived a pretty full life. Alright, fine, it’s an irrational fear.
We started out the birthday shenanigans on Friday night starting with a few drinks at the place downstairs. We then headed over to Bamboo on 2nd for sushi and sake. Their sushi is so amazing, and I definitely want to go back and get some more. I hadn’t been in a really long time and had forgotten how good it is. We then went for a few more drinks and some French fries and headed home.
I had to get home early, because B had plans for my birthday! He took me to Atlanta specifically to see Vince Carter playing with the Hawks. I have been a fan of his for a really long time, and was super excited to get to see him play. We started out by having a late lunch in Krog Street at Superica – they had the most amazing blood orange margaritas and steak nachos. We then went over to Diesel to watch AU basketball against Miss State, who they beat, and are now 13-0. We then went to check into our hotel, and then walked over to the arena to watch the Hawks take on the Pacers. Vince got so much playing time and even hit a three!! We had amazing seats, and the Hawks brought home a win. After that, we did the Skyview Ferris Wheel, got a glass of wine at the hotel bar and called it a night. We got up the next morning, and headed to Lloyds for brunch. We had the most amazing bloody Mary’s (they garnish with chunks of cheese!!), and their biscuits were so good.
It was such a good birthday – getting to see Vince Carter was amazing, and of course having solo time is always fun. Shout out to my sister for watching the little guy!
