This past weekend, I had a friend come in from out of town from Atlanta. While he was driving in, I was asking him what he wanted to do. I got the standard dude answer of dinner and drinks. Which, was then followed up with this question from Laura. “Do you like beer?” Right, because I don’t know if I could be friends with someone who didn’t like drinking beer. Then he said he liked trying new beer.
Then I was like, Hell yeah, because there’s like four breweries here.
Somewhere along the conversation, the subject/challenge of hitting all four breweries in a night came up. So guess what? That is what we did.
After first getting some sustenance from J. Clyde (because drinking on an empty stomach is never a good idea – lessons I’ve learned since being 21), we decided to hit up Good People, where Brett had his first Snakehandler.
Then after a quick photo in the light tunnels…
After Good People we headed to TrimTab…
Then after that, we headed to Cahaba. We got there one minute before closing, and then after patting ourselves on the back, B and Brett played some cornhole with some strangers.
And then finally, finally, we made it to Avondale It was pretty late by the time we made it here, so we had a beer and left. Not that we needed any more beer at this point in time…
By this time, it was around 2 or so in the morning, so what do all good Southerners do when it’s that late, and you’re just a tiny bit tipsy?
That’s right, head to Waffle House for some hashbrowns….which we did. And it was awesome.
So people of Birmingham, the complete brewery tour is doable — it is. I cannot, however, guarantee how awesome you’re going to feel in the morning.
Happy beer drinking!
