We were so lucky that we got to have a date night here. This place was so good and so beautiful. It’s located right in Pepper Place – so it’s convenient with plenty of parking.
This place is so gorgeous on the inside. It’s cozy and welcoming, and the bar is enormous with plenty of seating. We did make a reservation, and our table was ready as soon as we got there – definitely recommend making a reservation if you’re going on a weekend night.
We started out with a delicious bottle of red wine, and got right to the appetizers. The first thing we ate was the beef tartare.
I have never had it before, but honestly, rare meats don’t scare me. Putting all of the ingredients on the plate on top of one of those bread slices made it taste like a tiny little hamburger. It was seriously so delicious, and I’d order it again in a heartbeat.
The second appetizer we got was the skillet pimento cheese.
I don’t think I’d ever had hot pimento cheese in my life, but this was so bubbly and so good. I could have just eaten it with a spoon and been happy, but the crispy pieces of pumpernickel bread made it even better.
On to our entrees! I had their version of poutine, which was their mac n cheese, gravy, and braised beef with sweet potato fries. It was delicious, and even after all of the appetizers, it was so easy to finish.
B had the Surf & Swamp, which was alligator, catfish, and shrimp on a bed of crawfish dirty rice. I tried a piece of the alligator, and it was amazing. The rice was perfect, as well!
And of course, since it was date night, we had to have dessert. We settled on the ice cream, which came with three flavors.
The caramel with a piece of fresh strawberry was my favorite. Those cookies were pretty great, too! They also had a bourbon chocolate cake, which I will be eyeing for our next trip.
If you’re in Bham and looking for a good date night, or girl’s night out, definitely hit this place up. You won’t be sad that you did!
