Having a toddler, we are constantly on the look-out for something family friendly to do in Birmingham, so imagine how excited I was to find out that Elevate the Stage was again coming to the BJCC in Birmingham!
What is Elevate the Stage, you may be asking? Well, it’s an NCAA and Junior Olympic podium gymnastics meet! And come on, who doesn’t love watching gymnastics? This meet takes place over two nights – March 8th & 9th, and features over 1500 competitors. PLUS, it’s a meet up between Big 10 and our favorite conference down here, the SEC! UGA, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas are all representing for the SEC, plus you’ll get to check out Minnesota and Michigan State.
And if you’ve been around these parts for any amount of time, you know that I’m an Auburn grad, so I am PUMPED to see the AU gymnasts take on Alabama on Saturday night.
And since the event takes place at the BJCC, you have plenty of options to grab a bite to eat beforehand! The Southern, Cantina Laredo, Mugshots, Todd English Pub – the options are endless!
So if you’re looking for a family friendly event to head to this weekend, definitely check out this event!! You can purchase just Friday night (UGA, Arkansas, Minnesota and Michigan State) or Saturday night ( the Iron Bowl of gymnastics – AU vs UA), or get both. The events both start at 7pm., and you can purchase tickets here.
This event supports the Collegiate Gymnastics Growth Initiatives, which stresses the importance of new gymnastics programs at all collegiate levels.
I hope to see you guys out there for what promises to be an awesome weekend event!
(I was provided tickets to this event in exchange for this post – as always, all content and opinions are my own).
