Back at with the Birmingham food! These places can all be found downtown, so if you are in need of some delicious food downtown, you’re in luck!
This place is fairly new, and you can find it on 3rd Ave N. They have breakfast items as well as an assortment of coffee drinks. My favorite is their mint latte – where they actually muddle up some mint for your drink. Definitely get the whipped cream – it is amazing. They have savory and sweet crepes, as well as waffle doughnuts. They’ve got European sodas and teas alike. They open at 6:30, so even if you have to be at work early (like me!), you can hit up this place before you get there!
El Barrio is one of my favorite places to eat downtown. They have some of the best guacamole in Birmingham, and their bean dip is also amazing. Their steak tacos and their carnitas tacos are to die for – they bring you out fresh flour or corn tortillas, and you build your own tacos. Their barbacoa quesadilla is also incredible. And don’t forget about their margaritas if you feel like a drink – they are also delicious. Make sure you get there early for lunch, or you may be waiting for just a little bit.
If you’re in the mood for some amazing fried chicken, head to Gus’s Famous Fried Chicken. It’s located right next to Birmingham District Brewing in the Battery. Their fried pickle spears are so good, and their fried chicken is so delicious. The breading is so crunchy and their chicken is so moist and tender. They do have beer as well as normal soft drinks. They’ve got a ton of other locations, and I’m so glad they decided to come to the Ham.
If you’ve tried any of these places, let me know what you think, and if you’re ever in the Magic City, check these places out!
