Only because I feel with a title like that, I should start with a burger that has a doughnut as a bun..
Last night, B and I watched Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. Normally, I try to stay away from apocalypse movies, because they freak me the hell out. This one was no different, but I absolutely loved it.
B and I are normally TV show watchers, so when I find a movie that I love, I want to share it with the whole world. Steve Carell and Keira Knightley are amazing in this movie. It’s a 2012 movie with the title and plot as a reference to Chris Cornell’s song “Preaching the End of the World.” Take a listen; I’ve always been a fan of his, so it was awesome to find out this movie was based on this song.

Everything I’m going to say you can basically find in the trailer, so no spoilers. There’s an asteroid headed for the world (because this seems to be the destroyer of choice), and the last attempt to thwart it from hitting Earth just failed. Steve Carell’s wife leaves him – he goes on a journey to find the love of his love, but then discovers something else completely different.
I don’t know — it definitely makes you think. Maybe that “one that got away,” is all BS to begin with. I mean, if they got away, wasn’t there a reason? Of course, I’m never one for bringing up the past — past is the past for a reason, right?
Or, whatever. Maybe I’m just in love with Steve Carell. Which is a very real possibility as well. But seeing as how I don’t recommend very many movies, you should probably check this out. Really. You won’t be disappointed.
