I wrote in an earlier post about how I really wanted to get my credit card paid off this year. It’s just this monster burden that hangs over my head each and every month, and I hate it.
But there are some things I want to spend money on this year, and will do so without blinking, and that will be traveling.
Before having boo, B and I traveled a lot – as evidenced by the thousands of pictures I’ve been trying to organize since the beginning of the year. We went everywhere, and of course, at a whim, because the only thing we had to plan was calling the boarder for Stell-dog. These days, it’s a little harder, of course, needing to find childcare if B and I want to spend a few days away. And that can always be a burden on the grandparents, but luckily for them, we really don’t ask that often, and unluckily for us, even if we could, it’s not like any of them live next door.
So with that being said, I already have a few trips planned in the bank for this year:
Atlanta this weekend for a 15k and to hopefully watch my Pack beat some Falcons ass. Also to be a participant in the Atlanta March for Social Justice and Women, which I am super stoked about.
Chicago in April to run a half marathon with my buddy Brett – you may remember him from the first half we ran together last year – well, we’ve decided to make it a tradition until we can’t move, to which Brett promptly said “so, next year?”
Las Vegas for a friend’s 30th.
A trip to Austin for a just-because visit with a girlfriend.
And there just may be a giant GIANT trip in the making as well — one that I’m super excited for that may take place in the fall.
I’m also hoping that we can get a trip (or two) to New Orleans in there some time this year as well, in addition to the normal visiting PA and KC to see my parents.
I know when the glorious day comes that I get to retire, that B and I will spend our remaining days traveling the globe – which is why I’m a stickler about putting away money into my 401k and savings. I have a long, long, bucket list of places and things I want to see – and I hope boo grows up with the wanderlust. It’s important to both B and I to instill that longing to want to travel to help him understand the world better, and maybe himself.
So what about you guys? Any big trips planned for this year?
