Yeah, so this whole week is pretty much going to be an enormous trip dump on this little blog here. I will get caught up on all of this shit that is all up in my camera roll on my phone. Why? Because the longer I sit and look at my list of things I need to blog about, it keeps getting longer and it stresses me out. So, if you’re not into trip recaps, you can just skip my blog for the whole week.
So anyway, we decided that driving twelve hours into Kansas City was a great idea after an entire day of work. I am here to tell you that it is not. It is hard. Plus when your depth perception at night blows (like mine), it makes it even worse. The only thing that makes a trip better is stopping in Memphis for some bad ass BBQ sandwiches. Which we did…at Top’s. Yum.
We eventually did get to KC at around four in the morning –promptly went straight to bed and then woke up nice and early to go stand in line for the Boulevard brewery tour. Which we did get to go, and it was awesome.
Our funny tour guide also poured us our beers at the end.
So then after drinking a bit, we decided to go to the Money Museum. If you know anything about me, you know I’m not usually down with museums/history/anything smart while I’m on vacation. I do promise you though that I’m semi-intelligent, but don’t like to play when I’m on vacation. You know what I did learn? That they call their money moving machines, Huey, Dewey and Luey. Yes, that is what I learned. Oh, and I got a bag of money.
So, at least there’s that. Day 1 was pretty great…but it’s always an awesome time being out in KC. I’ll spare day two details for later.
But seriously, when you go to Kansas City, you should definitely hit up Boulevard; the tour we took was free, but they’ve got others where you can go on more extensive tours, and learn more about their Smokehouse Series.
