Our New Years Eves have looked a lot different since sharing them with a child. Not that B and I were giant partiers before him or anything – but it used to not be a question if we could make it to midnight or not. (spoiler alert: we actually did make it to midnight this year. And then at 12:01, we were walking back to bed).
I’m sure that y’all have been experiencing this nuts cold weather, so to keep our child sane, we took him to an indoor play area to let him run around and get some energy out. We were there roughly 2 hours – and he had a ball. Except for when it was time to leave – then he became a giant toddler nightmare. Nadine and I were talking about this – but am I the only parent that gets seriously upset when their child acts like an entitled butthole? I felt like he should have been more appreciative of getting to go to the play area. (PS – I know this is crazy, so don’t come after me).
B and I already decided that we wanted to have a Mexican themed New Years, so I made tamale casserole and a sopapilla cheesecake (recipes to come, because hot damn these were both awesome), and some margaritas, and we settled in under blankets to snuggle.
Boogs was adorable in his little New Years hat, and we had a lovely evening watching PJ Masks.
We did end up making it to midnight for a champagne toast and kiss to welcome the New Year. Neither one of us are resolution people, so we vowed to eat a little bit better (B even asked for meal planning), and to limit wine and beer to one day a week. We’ll see what happens with that.
I hope you guys had a great New Years, and if you’re resolution people – what are yours?
