It’s no secret around this blog that I’m in love with New Orleans, especially the food. So I’ve got three amazing places that you definitely need to try if you’re ever down there.
Saba: We went for lunch on our anniverary weekend, and it the place that was the highest up on our places to eat in NOLA.
What we ordered: The blue crab hummus is an absolute MUST if you go here. They have a ton of other options, but this is it ya’ll. This was the best hummus I’ve ever eaten, no joke. Since we only went for lunch, we split the falafel sandwich and some fries, and both were delicious. I can’t wait to go back and actually have dinner when we aren’t super full and are ready to eat!
The Vintage: We tried out this gem on Magazine Street for B’s birthday breakfast. We had been wanting to try it out for awhile, and it didn’t disappoint. The inside is beautifully decorated, and it wasn’t insanely crowded, making it the perfect breakfast spot.
What we ordered: The Fancy Beignet Flight. It came with an order of three beignets: one filled with matcha, the other a s’mores one, and the last one filled with the most amazing fruit filling you ever did eat. This was plenty for the three of us for breakfast, but they do have other items on the menu, like avocado toast and biscuits and gravy. They even do a bites menu around lunchtime with wings, boudin balls and dips. I really want to go late night for cheese fries and champagne.
Effervescence: This was my anniversary dinner down in NOLA. They specialize in all things bubbly – literally with over 200 types of champagne from all over the world. Definitely a nicer place to celebrate something special, or just celebrate being in New Orleans!
What we ordered: Two flights of champagne (6 different types tried!) and the gulf seafood plateau, which I will picture below, becuase it was that amazing. They also had this amazing seasoned popcorn that I would have gladly eaten all night long.
(this thing has murder point oysters, west indies crab salad, snapper ceviche, royal red shrimp, and bowfin Cajun caviar)
I hope you make it down there to try these places out!
