To Live and Die in L.A. – This podcast was insane, but in a good true crime way. (hint: most of these will be true crime, because I have an obsession). This followed the disappearance of actress/model Adea Shabani, who was last seen alive leaving her apartment with her boyfriend. The journalist Neil Strauss works alongside a PI to try to uncover the truth. There are so many twists and turns and flat out craziness in this podcast, and you sort of get to come up with your own conclusion. Episodes are relatively short, so it was really easy to get through this one.
Dirty John – Another whoa, true crime podcast. Girl meets guy who “seems” to check all of her boxes. But for some reason, her family seems to see right through him, as he tends to threaten them, and they start to discover all of his lies. Apparently this was also made into a movie that I’ll need to watch asap.
Gladiator – This podcast talks about Aaron Hernandez, a Super Bowl caliber football player turned convicted murderer. It goes way into depth about NFL culture – did he have to hide his sexuality, did his brain damage from playing football cause his violence, and did coaches look the other way as he continued his downward spiral? I love the NFL, but this definitely made me do a double take. Good reporting inside a super sad story.
Over My Dead Body – B and I finished this podcast on our drive back from NOLA. A seemingly perfect marriage leads to a bad divorce and someone dead. The podcast uncovers some damning evidence against one family – and the plot goes deeper than you would think. So good.
Currently listening to: 22 Hours: An American Nightmare. Four people murdered inside their DC mansion, and then it is set ablaze. I can’t wait to get this one finished.
Are you listening to anything awesome?
