My Favorite Half-Night Stand – Christina Lauren // This was just what I needed. I am sold on Christina Lauren, and have requested all of her books. I related very much to the main female character with being so closed off and non-emotional. There has been some hard life stuff going on, and I just needed this to escape. It was so cute, and even though you knew how it would end, it was really fun to read the in-between.
Under the Banner of Heaven – Jon Krakauer // I read this one on the recommendation from a friend that really likes Krakauer. And I have to say, I have never really delved into the Mormon faith or heard about the fundamentalism past the big stories in the news. This book focused on the murders of a woman and her baby by a Mormon fundamentalist who believes he was told to commit them by God. The book goes through all phases of the faith, plus how fundamentalism came to be. Really very interesting.
Josh + Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating – Christina Lauren // I craved more Lauren after reading my first ever one. They are just so cute, and so feel-good, that they are perfect for a season that can be so heavy. The characters were so cute, and I loved how the two main characters jived. It was just a super sweet book that kept me smiling.
Whisper Network – Chandler Baker // I got this recommendation from Nadine, and boy, did she not steer me wrong at all! I loved this book about women in the workplace, and how they stuck together. I feel like being in a male-dominated industry myself, this book really hit home. Definitely worth the read.
Circe – Madeline Miller // As a huge fan of Greek mythology, I devoured this book. I have always been interested in mythology, and this book was incredible. As a goddess with a soft-spot for mortals, this book chronicles the generations of life Circe lives. I seriously loved this and wish there were more books like this one. Even if you’re not into mythology, I would think most would enjoy.
Two Can Keep A Secret – Karen McManus // This book was such an easy read – and so easy to get lost in. I couldn’t wait to figure out what was going on and why. I didn’t try to figure out what was coming, and just let it happen, and it was so good. Will definitely have to keep an eye out for more of her books, because LOVE.
