This braided pizza is so easy. I am a big big fan of Pillsbury and all of their dough products, and hadn’t tried their pizza dough yet. You can also make this with the littles (let them put the pepperonis on!), and then of course eat the crap out of it.
WHAT YOU NEED
// 1 can (13.8 oz) Pillsbury classic pizza crust (found right next to the crescent rolls)
// 1/2 cup marinara sauce (I used Bolognese sauce, and it was really awesome)
//2 cups shredded mozzarella and/or cheddar cheese – divided.
// 1 cup pepperoni slices, divided (plus some extras for the top)
WHAT YOU DO
// Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray baking sheet lightly with cooking spray.
// Unroll pizza crust and press into rectangle onto the baking sheet. Cut 8 equal strips along each of the two longer edges.
// Spoon marinara (sauce) down the middle of the pizza dough. Sprinkle 3/4 cup cheese on top of the sauce, then top with 1/3 cup of the pepperonis. Sprinkle more cheese on top of that and another 1/3 cup pepperonis.
// Starting from one end, fold strips of dough over the filling to the center so the ends overlap, creating the braided look. Sprinkle top with remaining cheese and the rest of the pepperoni.
(here’s what it looked like before putting it into the oven)
// Bake for 20 mins until crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly.
We served it with a little side salad, and it was the perfect meal! Do you love Pillsbury dough products as much as I do? Please tell me I’m not the only one.
