Trying to find things that Sheffield will eat is sometimes super difficult. When I came across this recipe and saw that A. you could dip it (he loves anything that can be dipped) and B. it had his new favorite meat in it – I definitely had to try it out.
WHAT YOU NEED
// 10 slices of sandwich bread (or less if you don’t want as many – I only used 8)
// 10 fully cooked sausage links (again – adjust to how many you plan to make)
// 3 large eggs
// 1/2 cup milk
// 3 Tbsp sugar
// 1/2 tsp cinnamon
// 1 tsp vanilla
// 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour
WHAT YOU DO
// Slice crusts off bread – use a rolling pin to flatten out the slices.
// Place a sausage link on the front edge of the bread and roll it up tightly.
// Preheated skillet over medium heat – grease well with butter.
// To a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla and flour
// Dip roll-ups into the mixture, making sure to coat evenly and completely.
// Place on the skillet and cook for a few minutes, turning them until they’re golden brown on each side.
// Serve warm with a side dish of syrup.
It was such a fun way to start the weekend, and truly pretty easy. Except for making sure that you really do keep an eye on the roll-ups while they’re in the skillet. I may or may not have burned one. What are some of your favorite breakfasts to make on the weekend?
