Well, if I was any good at keeping up with things, I would have had this one done before even going on another trip. Oh well – that didn’t happen.
Our Napa Valley day was my favorite day of our entire San Francisco trip. We left out bright and early on a sprinter van. There were only about 10 or so of us on the tour, and our tour guide was great.
We started out with a trip across the Golden Gate, and then stopped right across it for photos. Then we took about an hour or so drive to get to the area of our first winery. We also stopped at the famous Bouchon Bakery for iced coffee and pastries. And then also to the other side of us was Mini Model, which apparently housed the best English muffin ever, according to Oprah. We definitely had to try it out – and I have to say it didn’t disappoint.
After breakfast, we headed to our winery, Domaine Chandon – a sparkling wine winery. It was so good! My sister and I shared a tasting between the two of us, and i was the perfect amount. We had three more vineyards to go to, so we didn’t want to drink too much on our first go round. They were all delicious though, and the vineyard was beautiful.
The second winery we went to was Robert Mondavi – this one we actually got to tour the inside, and had two glasses of wine. This place was gorgeous as well, with roses blooming everywhere.
The third stop was V. Sattui. We had lunch vouchers, so my sister and I split an Italian sandwich and some pasta salad. We also split an entire bottle of really delicious Riesling. Our last stop was at St Clair Brown – which was a mix between a brewery and winery. We had a beer tasting and wine tasting. Their beer was so delicious that I ended up getting a bottle, as was their chardonnay. And I’m normally not a Chardonnay fan, but I got a bottle of that as well.
All in all, it was such a beautiful day – and so much good wine was drank. We ended the day at a small little food hall, where we got a half dozen raw oysters, went back to the hotel, watched some more trash TV and got all packed up.
It was such a good trip – we had so many new experiences, and that’s what life is all about, right?
