Yesterday you turned 3. I’m still in denial that you’re already three, but also sort of surprised that we’ve kept you alive this long. Kidding, of course. Sort of. You have grown up so much in the past year. You continue to amaze us each and every day.
You’re still a really picky eater, although you are finally starting to come around on meats. And by meats, I mean hot dogs and chicken fingers and deli meats. You love you a good Lunchable and hot dog with ketchup. Like every kid I’ve ever known, you’re obsessed with cake, and would eat it every day if we let you. You also really love helping me make cookies. And by help, I mean eat the raw cookie dough from the mixer. You love helping me scramble eggs for breakfast, and can tear up a Hardee’s biscuit. You love Chick-Fil-A sauce, and we hoard it by the dozens so you can have something to dip your chicken nuggets into. You still really love milk and also root beer.
You love books. You love trying to memorize all the words on a page, so when we’re reading the book to you, you repeat all of the words. You really love your Mickey set of books that Poppa got for you awhile back, your red beans & rice book, and of course, anything with Disney characters. You’re obsessed with Paw Patrol, Blaze and Mickey Racers. You love Coco and Toy Story and Cars.
You hate time out and ants. You don’t like getting water in your ears. You don’t like loud noises or when Stella barks.
You sleep with your toy cars and books spread all around you. You like to cuddle with Sam the dog and Curious George. Sometimes Snoops gets the call-up and can snuggle with you, too. You sleep in your big boy bed, and have yet to sneak out of your room. You sing and dance and say the funniest things. You make us laugh daily. You love playing with water and other kids. You love anything with wheels and all animals.
You snore when you sleep. You probably watch too much TV. You fart and burp like a grown man, but Sheffield, you light up our every day. I race home from work just to be with you and live for the weekends when I get two full days of you. Your smiles and your laughter are some of the greatest things on the planet. You make everything better.
I’m so glad you’re here with us booger – please never stop smiling and being crazy. Happy 3rd birthday babe- here’s to many many many more.
(P.S. Also, how fun is it now that Aunt Juney lives near us, and we get to celebrate both of your birthdays together? Pretty darn great – even if you are a little birthday stealer.)
