Sweet Pea (or as mama sometimes shortens it to sweeeeepea),
It insanity to think that you have been on this earth for half a year already. It seems like every time we blink, another month has gone by. Happy half birthday sweet boy!
I’m going to do what mama’s do best and brag on you for just a minute. We had your six month appointment yesterday, and you, my little guy, are 16 pounds!! And 28″ long. That’s 25th percentile for weight and 95th for height!! You have come such a long way, baby, and we are so proud!
You do love to eat, though! You’ve tried pretty much all the vegetables: sweet potatoes (your favorite), peas, green beans (like your mom, you think these are disgusting), squash and carrots. And we’ve even tried some fruits! You love bananas and prunes! You like them mixed in with your oatmeal, and you get so impatient with us when we’re slow!
You still love bath time, and have recently discovered splashing. You think it’s fun to soak us when we’re giving you a bath.
You’re starting to get up on your knees and bounce, even doing the occasional plank. You are so ready to move, but we are not ready at all! (STOP GROWING UP SO FAST!) You love using rolling over and scooting as your preferred methods of getting around. You’re already so independent, wanting to be on the floor roaming around and playing, instead of being held. You love grabbing anything and everything in sight, and putting it straight in your mouth. We won’t say that you haven’t put any dog toys in your mouth, (because you have), but we try to keep an eye on that.
You still love just a little snack after bath time, and then it’s straight into my arms for a cat nap before bed time. You’re still only getting up once a night, but do it at different times every night. We’re not super big fans of that, buuuuut we’ll take what we can get.
You’re going through just a little bit of separation anxiety — you don’t like to be left alone in a room, and cry immediately once you are. You’re very aware of what’s going on around you, and you are so curious. So much so that you fight sleep at every chance, making nap times almost impossible.
In your sixth month, you got to have your first Christmas and New Years. You saw Gigi and Pawpaw on Christmas Day, and Meemaw and Pap came down to see you in Atlanta for New Year’s. You got so much attention, and you ate it up, you little ham.
Sheffield – our love for you continues to grow every day. Each day you make us laugh, either with your ill-timed farts or a new funny noise you’ve learned. I never knew you could love someone this much, and every day it gets deeper and deeper.
You keep on being your sunshiney little self – you are the absolute best.
