Everything is just weird and different now, right? To be honest, since my family has always lived so far away from us, we’re not used to having giant family holidays, so Easter without family wasn’t something new to us. We usually do spend it with B’s family, so that was a little weird, but other than that, nothing too out of the ordinary.
Friday night we ordered some pizza and had family movie night. We watched The Good Dinosaur, which was so good, and please watch it if you haven’t. I had a minor emotional meltdown at the end of the movie (so emotional lately- thanks social distancing!), but it was so great to just sit and eat pizza and watch a movie with the family.
Saturday, Sheff woke up super excited! One of the moms from daycare had scheduled a Zoom meeting. It was so cute to watch all the kids waving to each other and showing each other their toys. He was so happy that it made me tear up – damn these emotions! After the call, we went for a walk around the neighborhood – the weather was absolutely gorgeous. It was just a mom and Sheffield walk, so we walked and talked about how much he misses school and his friends. Talk about difficult conversation – it was the worst having to tell him that I wasn’t sure when he would be able to go back to school and see his teachers and his friends. Luckily, he’s four, and he bounced back pretty quickly when I let him play with his dinosaur in a puddle. We spent the rest of the day outside just hanging out, because it was just too pretty to do anything else. B and I ordered sushi for dinner (our budget allowed for two dinners out this week- whoop!), and watched The Goonies – another movie from our list – and I loved that one too!
Sunday, we got up and Sheffield darted to find his Easter basket. We got in a quick egg hunt before the weather turned to crap and started getting everything ready for dinner. We had pork tenderloin, collards, mac n cheese, deviled eggs and cornbread muffins for dinner, and the easy key lime pie for dessert. It was such a great, laid back time. We honestly weren’t strict with screen time or anything yesterday and let Sheffield play and watch his shows.
So thankful for another weekend, but back at the work grind today. I have to go into the office on Wednesday for a half day for some training, and I’m a little nervous about leaving my little house bubble. I’m sure everything will be just fine, but I’m really not looking forward to it.
I hope you all had a great Easter weekend!
