I was going to call this mom-fessionals, but that sounded super lame. so I stuck with ramblings, and left the mom out, because it’s not all mom stuff.
This holiday season seems to have flown by. How in the world are there only 10 days left until the big man comes down the chimney? Luckily, most of my shopping is done – I only have a few things left to pick up for some folks and two packages to get sent out, and then I’m done.
This year we were planning on going to Gatlinburg for Christmas – we had our cabin booked, and then all the fires happened, and well, as our luck would hold it, our cabin was destroyed. So meemaw and pappy are making the trek down to Birmingham to spend Christmas down here with us. To say I’m excited about that would be an understatement. There’s just something about seeing a meemaw with her grandson that gives me all the heart eyed emoji faces.
Speaking of meemaw coming down – we wanted to do something special with her, so we set a reservation to see Santa on the 24th, but we wanted to do a test run if you will. So we went to Zoolight Safari at the Birmingham zoo to see the lights, ride the train and check out this Santa dude. Last year he was five months old and didn’t care whose lap we put him on. This year? Nah, not having it. He screamed his head off with a mouth full of goldfish, as evidenced below.
He also got to meet Elsa, Anna and Olaf – you guys! You should have seen the smile spread across his face when he saw Olaf. That kid loves Frozen. That’s normally what we watch for his 30 minutes of screen time and we love it. And yes, I know I look ridiculously excited in this picture as well — it was freaking Olaf you guys. PLUS, the two girls playing Elsa and Anna never broke character and looked amazing – sorry for crappy photo quality, but like night time and flash.
Speaking of 30 minutes of screen time, I never knew I’d be such a strict follow the rules kind of parent — but with his paci rules and screen time rules — apparently I’m all about rule setting. He’s super into screens right now, and I don’t want him relying on them for entertainment, so we limit it.
I’ve also been doing Orange Theory Fitness classes for about a month and a half, and I have to say that I’m obsessed with it. I’ll do another post on it, but you guys — it’s a seriously good workout, and I always feel amazing after I leave there. Plus, I’ve started to notice some definition in my back and shoulders, and YES! I’ve never been so excited to go work out, ever, so I know I’ll probably stick with this.
I signed up for a 15k for my birthday in January in Atlanta. That’s like 9 miles, y’all, so I’m back on the training train. It just looked like too much fun to pass up – plus a girl’s got to have goals, yo.
I’ll be spending my weekend cleaning, wrapping those last few gifts and watching everything Christmas!! I hope you get to do the same — minus cleaning. Because, yuck.
