Ahh, a holiday weekend. A jam-packed holiday weekend. I feel like with a kid, the weekends are always busy: there’s always something to do.
B’s parents came up this weekend for Easter. Friday was pretty laid back – with take-out and TV. Saturday, I got up early, got my workout done, and Sheff and I went to get some breakfast. B’s parents came over right before naps, and we hung out and had a few drinks. Once Sheff woke up, we headed over to Back Forty for a late lunch. Sheff and I shared the pepperoni pizza, and it was delicious. I had a good time hanging out with that little kid – sometimes he can be pretty fun. After our late lunch, we headed down to Regions Field to watch our first baseball game of the season. Sheffield made it 6 innings before we decided to leave. He was actually really well-behaved, and really loved watching the hot dog and taco race.
Sunday morning, we got up and got ourselves into some Curious George Spring special. I love how it seems that he won’t outgrow Curious George – he has always loved him. We started getting everything ready for our “soul food” Easter. B has never been the fan of ham, so we decided to do fried chicken, collard greens, mac n cheese, potato salad and deviled eggs. We did a little egg dyeing, and a small Easter egg hunt in our backyard. I had done some research on what to put in the eggs, since he already had some candy from his basket, and those little toys last a week and then get thrown away. I saw someone that did experiences on notes and put them in the eggs. At 3, he doesn’t truly understand money, and I didn’t want to spend the money on tiny toys, so this seemed like the perfect idea. I put notes in there from the bunny, like a trip to the zoo, a lunch at Chick-Fil-A, and a pizza and movie night. He seemed to really like the notes, so I’m glad that I did them. My sister and her boo came over, and it was a really great family Easter. The weather was absolutely perfect, and it couldn’t have been a better day.
Jazz Fest starts this Thursday in NOLA, and I am super bummed that I am not there. I hope to spend most of my next weekend outdoors listening to the live broadcast and eating shrimp. Hope y’all are having a great week so far!
