This past weekend, we drove down to my dad’s condo in Miramar Beach to give it one last hurrah. They are moving soon into their permanent home down there, so it has been sold. We had to go down and give it a proper goodbye.
We took a half day on Friday and drove down – just in time to spend about an hour on the beach and get a little pool time. It was also really nice that S just wanted to be left alone and play in the sand by himself. B went and got sushi from our new favorite sushi place down there, Sushimoto, for dinner, and we sat on the porch and had a few beverages before calling it a night.
Saturday we were up and on the beach around 9 in the morning. We only went up for a quick break for lunch, and back down we went. Luckily for us, there were a few families there with kids, and S played with the kids quite a bit, so we got to relax and read. It was wonderful!! After we’d spent all day at the beach, we went up and got ready to head to dinner. We headed over to Baytowne Wharf, a fun little places with shops, lots of restaurants and things to do. We ended up a restaurant right on the dock, listened to some music, had some oysters and beach drinks, and Sheff even had a good time. After dinner, we headed over to a gelato place to get an after-dinner treat, and then since S had behaved, we let him ride on the carousel. The girl was so sweet, and she said that it had been so slow, that she gave him a free ride on it again. We were tired and sunburned, so we retreated back to the condo, watched the end of the Miami- UF game and called it a night.
Sunday morning, we got up and hit the beach. And cried all day since we were leaving. Sheff’s little friend from Nashville was out, so he played with her pretty much all morning. We ended the trip with a farewell lunch at Pompano Joe’s – as is tradition.
We had beautiful weather the entire time we were down there – it was such a nice quick trip. We will miss that place down there, but know that we will have lots of time to make new memories in Poppa’s new house.
Bye Miramar Beach – we will miss you!
