Friday night was such a fun date night! We started the night out with cocktails at Cayo Coco – a new old-fashioned style Cuban rum bar. It was such a fun place! I tried out their banana and pineapple daiquiris, and they were so good! The bartender was amazing, and we got a small plate of empanadas which were so good. They have more food there, and more drinks than I can even count, so I definitely want to back to that place, for sure.
After our drinks and snack – we headed over to the Birmingham Art Museum for Art on the Rocks. It just so happened that a band B wanted to see was playing, and they had the opening of the Barbie exhibit. I know this may seem completely out of character for me, but I was obsessed with Barbies when I was younger. My sister and I played with them all the time – we had all the accessories, Ken dolls, Skipper dolls – the works. So it was fun to see them do a Barbie dream house type thing- Her vanity and bookshelf were my favorite things. After that, we headed to the Lab Bar & Kitchen downtown, split a burger and called it a night. We went home, played some Beat Saber and enjoyed our first night in our house without the child since he was born (thanks aunt Juney for letting him spend the night!!)
Saturday, we got up early to head down to Auburn for Fan Day. We met up with Robyn and her crew down in Auburn at Mellow Mushroom (our most favorite place to grab lunch while in AU – just brings back amazing memories!), then walked down to the bookstore to get the boys something to get signed by all the football players. The boys then walked over to the indoor practice facility to get in line to meet all the football players – Robyn and I headed to Momma G’s for a couple of beers before meeting back up with the guys. Sheffield got the QBs, all the seniors and coach Malzahn to sign his tshirt. We packed it up after that and headed to our bomb ass hotel in Opelika. It was like a resort, with a really fun pool area for kids, with a splash area, waterfall and slide, AND they had a bar for the adults.
After playing in the pool, we went to Laredos ( my most favorite AU Mexican place!) for dinner and then packed it in. We were all exhausted. After meeting for breakfast in the morning, we headed to Montgomery to see B’s parents to celebrate all of everyone’s birthdays (except for mine – only winter baby around) and have a cookout. We came back home and all had an early bedtime.
I am so looking forward to this weekend of nothingness coming up. We have one birthday party on Saturday for two hours, and then I plan on doing nothing but lounging around, finally getting my Disney portion of the scrapbook done and catching up on my shows. Hope y’all are having a great week so far!
