When we got home on Friday, it was definitely wine ‘o clock, so I poured myself a glass of rose, and hung out on the back patio with boogs and B. Boogs decided that it was perfect book reading weather, so we just chilled out and went to bed semi-early.
Saturday morning, we headed over to Pepper Place Farmer’s Market for strawberries, Piper & Leaf tea, Monroe County sausage biscuits, and a delicious cheese spread. When we got back, we got out all of the water toys we owned, and boogs had a good time splashing around. B did some yard work while I kept my eye on the little guy. He chowed down on most of those strawberries and some peanut butter for lunch, and then took his nap. After naps, we decided to get the sprinkler out. It was hitting close to 80, and we hadn’t gotten to play with that sprinkler that we’d gotten on clearance from Target last year. He had a really good time running through the water, for like ten minutes – and then it was too cold, so we bounced in the trampoline and played with some sidewalk chalk and called it a day. While I was getting boogs ready for bed, B headed out to Publix and got us a pound of shrimp and also that delicious orange IPA up there. We listened to the live broadcast of Jazz Fest on WWOZ, ate grilled shrimp and ended the night watching the first episode of season 2 of Handmaid’s Tale.
Sunday, we continued our tradition of no TV mornings – Sheff played with all of his toy cars, and we listened to some more Jazz Fest. Then we just snacked and played outside the whole day. That Trader Joe’s Bacon Cheddar Ranch Dip barely lasts 36 hours on our house – and that caramel dip we picked up from Pepper Place Saturday morning and was so good on apples. B showed Sheff how to play with his toy golf clubs, we baked some lemon bars, watched a little TV – had guac and chips for dinner, got disappointed when we found out there was only one more episode of Handmaid’s Tale left to stream, and called it a night.
The weather this weekend was picture perfect, and made me seriously miss being able to be in NOLA for Jazz Fest. It was nice to just get to have all that time spent outside and with family. I hope you guys had a great weekend too!
