This weekend was full of fun festive activities!!
Friday after work, B and I went to the bar below my office for a few happy hour Moscow Mules, and a glass of Pappy Van Winkle. B was like a kid on Christmas when he saw that the bar had it. B and I then played Mario Party well into the night, and had so much fun just hanging out with each other.
Saturday we got up and got ready to head down to Calera for a ride on the Santa train with B’s parents. Despite the horrible weather, it really was a fun time. The train cars were all decorated for Christmas, and they played Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas album. And the big man himself made an appearance. You know how in A Christmas Story, Ralphie gets all nervous and can’t remember what he wanted to ask Santa for? That was boogs. It was so fun to watch him with Santa, and have him ride on his first real train. After that, we all had lunch together, and it was definitely time for naps when we got back. That afternoon, I went shopping with my sister, and we came home for pizza and the AU basketball game (another W! whoop!)
Sunday, my sister and I took Sheff to his first movie in a movie theater to see The Grinch! We got popcorn, candy and a Sprite and settled in. His little face was just perfect when he got to see the movie on a big screen. Plus he was pretty good the whole time – only getting restless toward the end. The wind had knocked out our power the night before, and thankfully by the time we got home from the movie, it had been turned back on. We spent the rest of the afternoon baking cookies and listening to Christmas music. I fell asleep on the couch, as per usual, during SNF, but B and I did have the most delicious Glogg, from a bottle that I had gotten at World Market.
All in all, it was a pretty good weekend. Busy, but fun. Our weekends don’t really slow down much until after the new year, so here’s hoping I don’t go crazy by then.
