I lost count on how many days we’ve been at home. I think yesterday was the start of week 8? I don’t know – I’m over it. But I did finally get a mask in, so I’m ready for the Birmingham City mask mandate anyway.
Last Friday, B had to drive down to Montgomery to take care of some family stuff, so Sheff and I were left to our own devices. We ordered some concessions from SideWalk film festival, and came home for a double feature of Frozen 2 and Bolt. Their popcorn was delicious, and I got a bottle of red for only $10. Not only did we pig out on popcorn, we also decided we needed some pizza. We spent the night eating and watching TV and snuggling, and it was glorious.
Saturday came and with it came absolutely gorgeous weather. We spent the entire day outside. Sheff and I made lemon bars (recipe to come soon!) and sun tea.
These are the moments I want to remember- filthy dirty fingernails, sweaty little forehead, learning to ride his bike on two wheels, Rex eating all the weeds in the back yard. It was just such a good day – listening to music outside and playing in the sprinkler. I wish there was less work in quarantine, and more days like Saturday.
Sunday was more or less a repeat of Saturday – the weather was gorgeous, B finally got the pool out, and we Jazz Fested in place – they played Springsteen’s set from 2006 (the year after Katrina), and it was beautiful. We saw him when he played in 2014 at Jazz Fest, and the man is amazing.
I hope you all had a great weekend and are staying safe!
