First things first, today is my last day at my current company! I am really excited for the new adventure, but will dearly miss the company I’m leaving. They have been so good to me, and I really love my coworkers. It will be really hard to leave them, and I know that I’ll cry.
Now that that is out of the way, let’s get into the weekend, shall we?
I’m going to start with Thursday, because on Thursday, Nadine and I finally got to go and try out Shake Shack! Luckily for us, this time the line wasn’t out the door, however we had to be like hawks to find somewhere to sit! I also really wasn’t that impressed, and know better places in Birmingham to get burgers and fries , though. It was good to hang out with the bestie and enjoy a good meal! One that took up all my WW points and then some, but totally worth it.
Friday, daycare called and said Sheff had a fever and wasn’t acting like himself. The teacher cracked me up when she said she knew he wasn’t feeling well and wasn’t himself when she didn’t even have to fuss at him. He was super pitiful, and while I worked, he laid down on the bed behind me and just watched TV, I gave him some Motrin and pumped him full of orange juice. He woke up from his nap with an even higher fever at about 101.5, so we spent the rest of the afternoon drinking OJ and watching some Paw Patrol with a cold compress on his head. His fever broke before bed time, and he was feeling much better that night.
Saturday, we woke up pretty early and we were all excited for some Auburn football! Hooray for college football season! We drove down to Montgomery to spend the day with B’s parents, and had such a good time! I ate my weight in taco dip, and his mom had a brand new bomb ass recipe for margaritas. A good time was had by all, and AU even pulled out the win over #6 Washington. It was such a fun day!
Sunday, we drove back home, and after naps, Sheff’s fever had returned. We spent the afternoon snugging on the couch and watching cartoons, and even a little pillow fort building. It was an uneventful evening filled with leftovers and watching LSU beat the crap out of Miami.
Yesterday, we met up with daycare mom and her crew over at Tannehill State Park. Every Labor Day they put on a family friendly event with rides, BBQ and a moon pie eating contest. The kids brought their swimsuits, and enjoyed playing in the little river. After walking a very short trail, we went back to the main grounds for some rides! After we’d had our fill of the state park, we headed over to Bob Sykes BBQ in Bessemer to enjoy some BBQ! We got so lucky and showed up at the just right time – it wasn’t busy at all! And Sheff even impressed us by eating half of his hamburger! (bottom left picture courtesy of Robyn)
It was such a fun three-day weekend, filled with family and friends. I get to celebrate my last day at my current company with a “hot chicken Tuesday,” and then I will say my farewells. That place gave me a home for almost five years, and for that I will be forever grateful. I am so nervous to leave, but I know that something great awaits me. I hope you guys had a nice relaxing weekend as well!
