Woof. It has been a long couple of days. I am tired, y’all. So so tired.
Last Thursday we had to take Sheffield in to get his tonsils out. Apparently, he has giant tonsils, and they were hindering his eating and his breathing when he was sleeping in the form of excessive snoring. Did you know that snoring can burn a ton of calories at night? Neither did we. Anyway, Children’s South was fantastic with him. The surgery took about forty minutes, and recovery was about the same. He was not happy about being in the hospital gown, but got pretty happy after they gave him his meds.
However, that’s about where the happy ends. He was good Thursday after the surgery and Friday during the day. He woke up Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night in the middle of the night – so he slept with us. Let’s talk about how much sleep you don’t get with a preschooler in your bed. It’s not very much. Plus he’s not napping, not eating, not drinking – and there you have it. So no sleeping, and a lot of stressing about food and drink intake.
Bennett’s parents came up on Saturday for Father’s Day – and we feasted on some take-out Mexican, and turned in pretty early for the night.
Sunday, we celebrated Father’s Day with a blueberry brunch casserole, and spent the day shopping for stuff we thought Sheffield would eat and drink. To no avail of course – UNTIL we discovered crazy straws in root beer. I also found this amazing letter and number practice book at Target, and Sheffield was obsessed with it. Thankfully that night, my sister watched Sheffield so I could take B out for his Father’s Day gift- a dinner at Automatic Seafood and Oysters. Which was amazing. Highly highly recommend. We also got some fun selfies to commemorate this weekend of misery.
I’m hoping he gets to feeling better soon, because this whole household needs some sleep. Hope y’all had a great Father’s Day weekend!
