Friday, us kids down here in Alabama got spoiled with 5 inches of snow!! We woke up, and it was snowing, and it didn’t stop until that afternoon. B and I both worked from home, and S stayed home from daycare. We played out in the snow so much! It was the good kind that you could really make some good snow balls out of. Our street turned into a beautiful winter wonderland. It was the best snow day ever.
Saturday – we woke up and went to get doughnuts at Hero in Homewood. B then took boogs out to run a few errands so I could get the house cleaned up. After naps, we headed up to Cahaba Brewing for Cahabazaar – a fun local gift market. We had a brew and boogs got to see Santa! And this year, no tears! He ran right up to him, gave him a hug and told him that he wanted a “choo- choo wain.” We met up with Chris and Nadine at Avondale Commonhouse for an appetizer and conversation afterwards.
Sunday, boogs and I ran errands around town all morning. Later that night B and I had a date night planned!! We finally got to try out Moonshine, a fun rooftop bar on top of the Elyton hotel downtown. It was obviously too cold to sit outside, but I did go out there for a second to get a shot of downtown Bham. We had crab craws and oysters before heading over to the Lyric Theater to see Robert Earl Keen. It was a fantastic show. I sure do love my date nights – we ended the night with some ranch fries and burgers from Purple Onion – went home to relieve the babysitter and promptly passed out.
This was definitely one of my favorite weekends from this year. I loved every minute of it. Maybe it’s the magic of December? Who knows, but I want some more of them.
