Saturday morning we drove down to Montgomery to spend the day with the in-laws. We went to a really fun place called SweetCreek Farm Market – a farmer’s market and also a place to get delicious BBQ. B’s parents swore it was the best, so even though we are on a healthy eating kick, we had to have the BBQ sandwich. And it was delicious. Even Sheffield behaved the whole time we were there!
After lunch, we went outside to check out the goats and chickens. There were even turkeys and peacocks. And of course hay bales for the kiddo to jump around on. He had such a good time.
After that, B and his Dad headed to Auburn to watch the Tigers take on South Carolina – we won and also snagged the SEC regular season title! The cutting the net pictures below are B’s, but it was just too awesome not to share! We may have a legit shot in the tourney – it’s got us all hyped up and ready for March Madness!
We had also purposely left the pack ‘n play at our house, and decided we would see how he did in a big bed. We had been toying with the idea of maybe taking the rail down on his crib, since he is turning 3 in four months. While I woke up about three times to check on him and make sure he hadn’t fallen or anything else, he actually slept great, past the normal time he wakes up at home. So we decided when we got home on Sunday that we would head out to find some big boy sheets and pull the rail off the crib.
Boogs is going through a major PJ Mask stage right now, so of course he picked out the sheets to match his pillowcase. He was so excited about getting them! We got home and while he was eating, B took down the rail and made his bed. When he went in his room to get undressed for bath, he absolutely lost his mind! I had never seen such smiles before! I really wish I would have caught it on video – he was such a happy little dude to see his bed with the sheets he picked out!
And I kid you not when I say this – he didn’t get out of his bed once. Well, if he did, he didn’t come to bother me or B. And I checked him pretty religiously in his monitor last night just to make sure. I was so so proud of him – he is really starting to grow up. I love that he’s getting to experience all of these things, and of course I love seeing everything through his eyes, but each milestone is just a tiny bit bittersweet. They just grow up way too fast.
A few other fun things that happened this weekend: Pizza party with Gigi and Pawpaw, learning how to give a thumbs up, and reading time with Pawpaw.
I hope you guys had a great weekend as well! I’m hoping to fill this coming weekend with lots of fun family time and a date night!
