I sort of felt bed jetting off for another weekend without my family, but I did have this planned before I even knew about Minnesota, so I wasn’t really going to back out on plans.
Friday night, Rachel and I headed to the Georgia Aquarium for the Atlanta Pride kickoff. It was kind of nice, because you were able to walk around to all the exhibits that were open, and it was really nice to see all of these people able to walk around and not be judged – although there were those awesome preachy people outside. And it may be ridiculous to admit, but I had had some giant reservations about going to this because of the Las Vegas shooting. I was terrified that some crazy person who didn’t believe in what was being celebrated was going to come and shoot up the place. Luckily, the sane side of my brain won, and I went anyway. We did have to go through metal detectors, though.
Saturday we woke up pretty much in search of food. We hadn’t really had much the night before, so I woke up starving. We went to a soft opening of a placed called muchacho, but the were pretty much only serving pastries and coffee. and since we were in a desperate search for nachos, we ended up at Holy Taco, where Rachel and I had the most delicious nachos and pork belly tacos. Plus they had this organic margarita thing which was amazing. We spent the afternoon at an Auburn bar called Diesel, where we got our hearts broken. No time to wallow though, since we had to get ready for a 90s dance party . We were a tad disappointed in their music, so we went to Flatiron for a brew before heading back to Rachel’s place and gorging on pot stickers and pizza.
Sunday I got home pretty early to hang with the kiddo. What I didn’t know was going to happen was that I’d be mourning the rest of my football season. Auburn losing to an unranked team on Saturday, and then Aaron Rodgers breaking his collar bone, all but ensuring a non-return this season. So B and I cracked open some raspberry champagne and toasted to free weekends for the rest of fall and winter (kidding – we’re gluttons for punishment and will be watching until the very end). We got lots of play time in with the kiddo – and the weather was gorgeous, so after the game, we spent the rest of the day outside.
Another great weekend in the books! Next weekend, we’re running in the Trick-or-Trot down at Sloss Furnace, and Gigi and Pawpaw are coming for a trip to the pumpkin patch. Fingers crossed for great weather! I hope y’all had a great weekend!
