Our PA Trip

October 20, 2015 · 3 Comments

This post is well over due– I’d talked about my weekend that I got to meet Katie, and our DC weekend, but never actually got to the time spent with family.

When I first got home from the hospital, I had a bad case of baby blues.  Sheffield would non-stop cry some days, and so would I, and I needed some help.  My mom offered for me to come up there, and they would help me, so I could get some rest, and of course so they could see their grandbaby.

It was good for me, too — I hadn’t spent that much time with either one of my parents in a row since college.  My mom made me breakfast and lunch every day, and always took the early 2 am feeding — sometimes the next one too if I didn’t hear him crying.  It was honestly just what I needed.

He got to chill on the porch in the morning with Pap…

There were plenty of naps taken….

He sat up like a big boy to watch all the garbage TV (the BEST kind of TV)….

Went out for Chinese food….

Sheffy had a good time, but so did I.  I got to go and get my nails done with my aunt — and her and my uncle took me to Ocean City, NJ for a day of basking in the sun, swimming, boardwalk cruising and pizza – another one of my aunts got to meet him — I got to get my hair done — Sheffy got some aunt Juney time — and I got to share late night vodka sodas with my mom while we watched Big Brother.

All in all, while I missed my husband, I’m really glad that I got to go.  It really was a good trip.

Weekend 9.26

October 2, 2015 · 1 Comment

Yes, I am far behind on recapping my weekends, thank you for noticing.  Anyway, a few weekends ago, B and I decided that we were going to take Sheffield into the outside world — he doesn’t get out much during the work week, so we thought it might be good to get him some fresh air.

Saturday morning, we headed to Pepperplace Market — the weather was beautiful!  And Sheffield behaved just as beautifully!  We got a bundle of sunflowers and some iced coffee, and just walked around.  We also got some macarons from Magic City Macrons, and they were delicious!

Sheffy was clearly dressed in his Auburn best, because war eagle for life!

Then we woke up on Sunday, got on our Packer gear and headed to Trucks by the Tracks —  I can say that this will be the last year we go to this — it was so uncomfortably packed out, and trucks were running out of food left and right.  We tried not to let that bother us! We got some nachos from Notorious P.I.G. and sat and listened to some tunes with Sheffy.

notorious pig.

Ahhh, the cuteness!!

And check out the rainbow colored Vulcan!!  So fun!

Then we came home and enjoyed a Seahawks beat down.  It was such a fun weekend, and gave us such confidence about being able to do fun weekend things with Sheffield!

2 Month Shots

September 30, 2015 · 4 Comments

This poor kid was a champ at the doctor’s office for his 2 month shots.  When he was in the NICU, they had to prick his heel almost every day to get a glucose reading — and he hated it.  The nurses said he screamed more during the heel prick than he did during the circumcision, so we were more than a little afraid that he wasn’t going to do well with shots.

But he proved us way wrong — the nurses at his peds office are amazing and did them super quick.  All three of them.  She bandaged him up in some tweety bird band-aids, and sent us on our way.  He cried, of course, but was consoled pretty quickly.

And then we came home.  Where I proceeded to take 8 pictures of him, post vaccinations.  I know I have a problem, but I can’t help it when the subject is just this cute.

(these are all different, I swear)

Sheffield’s First Travels

September 25, 2015 · 2 Comments

You may remember that a few weeks ago, I was up in PA with my little guy.  Well, to get up there, we were going to have to travel with a less than two month old.

What we decided to do was meet up with my mom and step-dad halfway — which is about a seven hour drive.  I was so nervous about traveling that long with a newborn.  Fortunately for me, h wasn’t nervous at all.   Check him out — he’s just chillin.  He also slept most of the way, so that was super helpful.

He also got to have his first restaurant experience — fitting that it was Mexican seeing as how his daddy and I love it so much!

IMG_7749

He even got to spend his first night in a hotel!!  Look at the sweetness!! (I know I’ve already posted this in another post, but sue me — he looks angelic!)

He was also a champ at the hotel — keeping to the normal schedule of feedings that we had at home.

On our way back though – B had booked plane tickets.  I sooooo didn’t want to be those people with the screaming kid, and it was looking like it was going to be that way, because he was having a rough morning.  Getting through security and all that was actually a breeze — although they do have to wand the baby and the stroller.

But look at this guy!  All smiles before taking off! And once we did take off, he slept through the entire flight!  He only woke once we landed, and the pilot had turned off the engine.

All in all, it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.  I really do have a pretty good baby.  Makes me wonder what our next trip should be…..

Hope y’all have a great weekend!!
