Kansas – The Conclusion

December 16, 2014 · 2 Comments

Yes, I am aware that this trip occurred over three months ago.  So sue me.  Sometimes I just lose track of time, and I can get very scatterbrained or super excited about something else, and just throw other things to the back burner .

It’s a quality trait in what they “addictive personalities.”

Quite charming, no?

So to finish out the Kansas trip, we actually got to watch the first Auburn game of the season out there.  We got to drink many many drinks, take shots of moonshine, enjoy pre-game mojitos, and drink lots of vodka, because I mean, what’s an Auburn football game without a little to drink, amiright?!

Auburn looked terrible, but they did end up beating Arkansas.  Oh, and did I mention that we got to have Joe’s Kansas City BBQ (previously known as Oklahoma Joe’s)?  Talk about the best damn BBQ in the world.  We got pork and beef and a gillion sauces.  There’s only a few things I love more than KC BBQ.  Oh yeah, and the guy at the bank asking if my dad and I were Alabama fans.  Yes, dude, I’m an Alabama fan in my orange and blue, and so was my dad in his shirt that plainly read Auburn on it.  #wareagle

So on Sunday, we had some breakfast (where I proceeded to drink an entire bottle of Barefoot Pink Bubbly all to myself), and then we went off to a vineyard out in the KC boondocks: Riverside.

We actually tried all of their wines, and they weren’t too bad.  We even came back with two bottles from the place – both ports, and both delicious.

Dad and B even got bourbon flights! I mean, what else can you ask for at a vineyard?!

I also love taking pictures of my dad when he doesn’t know I’m doing it.  And I know he loves it too.

This last picture is of a wine slush.  YES!  WINE SLUSH.  It was soooo good.

We all got a little afternoon tipsy, and then on the way home stopped at a liquor/grocery store in Missouri, where we stocked up on liquor and Sheboygan brats, which are now sadly eaten.

All in all, it was a pretty fun trip, and even reminiscing three months later was fun!

Pack vs Saints — Annual Away Game

November 4, 2014 · 3 Comments

So it’s become annual tradition for my dad and I to go to a Packers away game.  It was a little unusual since step-mom didn’t get to come, and since Nola is my favorite city, I think I may have killed my dad trying to jampack all the things I love about that place into three days.  We were a bit more tame than normal (but we did get Dad to stay out till 1 the first night), but I think it was still an ok time.

Minus the Packers loss, and the not so nice Saints fans.

Anyway, we all got there Saturday afternoon.  Promptly after picking Dad up from the airport, we headed straight to our favorite drive-thru daiquiri shop, then headed to the hotels to check in . After checking in, we met up with Lindsey and her boyfriend for some beers, oysters and football.

We went to the Blind Pelican, and got to sit outside on the patio, because the weather was so beautiful.  When it was time for the game, we headed back toward the Central Business District and went into Walk-ons, where there were a million TVs so we could all watch our games.  The Royals for dad, (as well as Auburn for him, but mostly for me and Bennett) and Alabama for Linds.  We ordered a million beers, and I had some of the most amazing cheese fries known to man.

Once we had some food on our stomachs, we headed into the quarter for Hurricanes and people watching.

The next morning, we went to Elizabeths’ for brunch (had praline bacon and mimosas!), then walked back into the quarter for some beer at Lafitte’s, then the piano bar at Pat O’s.  After all that, we went back to the hotel to make our go cups for the game.  We walked to the Superdome, promptly watched the Packers get their asses beat, went for pizza, and then went back to the hotel room.

My dad said we walked ten miles on Sunday.  Duh.  That’s how you get to eat and drink whatever the eff you want.  The next morning we dropped Dad off at the airport, went to get brunch, walked around the quarter/French Market, and went home.

So if the Packers wouldn’t have lost, and we didn’t force Dad to walk three miles for pizza after the game, I think everyone would have been pretty happy.

Picture dump!

It wasn’t the best trip in the world (thanks a bunch Aaron Rodgers), but it still counts for the tradition!  Maybe next year we can pick a better game — one where the fans aren’t so mean, and they have a shot of winning.

But at least I had praline bacon.

And hurricanes.

And requested the loudest song that people sang along with at the piano bar.  Thank you very much Don McLean.

B & L by the Beach

September 10, 2014 · Leave a Comment

So of course when at the beach, it’s only customary to take a crap-ton of pictures by the water, right?  I know we’re not the only ones . It’s been a super busy week for me that will end in a girl’s trip to Chicago, so I’m just trying to keep my cool.  Does anyone have any seminars on how to say, NO?!?

Anyway, this was one of the more fun beach trips I’ve taken, and I got to spend it with my dad which only made it cooler.  Plus seeing Juney — but you already saw all those pictures.  I guess I’m finally getting around to dumping all of these trips out on ya, huh?

Sorry, I’m not sorry.

It’s perfectly acceptable to look like shit at the beach.

And just because I’ve always been afraid to post a picture of myself in a bikini, I’m just going to go ahead and get it over with.  Once you go bikini on the interwebs, there’s no going back.

And there you have it world.  Laura in a bikini.  First ever bikini picture on this blog, and this little biotch has been around for awhile.

It was an awesome trip, and I definitely have more to say on the subject, but for now, those clear blue waters and those chiseled abs of mine (hahaha!) will have to do you.

Father Memories

June 16, 2014 · 1 Comment

Since I was my normal self and loafed around the house on Thursday instead of doing a blog post, I missed out on getting to do a Father’s Day post.
Well, better late than never they always say right?
I won’t get all sappy and junk on the blog, but I know my dad loves me and only wants what’s best for me.  He’s an awesome dad (even to his new puppy, Rosie), even though he did, in fact, spoil the crap out of me and my sister.
He’s a great person and an awesome dad, so what better way to celebrate with some awesome old pictures?

I don’t know why I do this sometimes; I know that he has way more embarrassing pictures of me than I have of him.
One day, I know he’s just going to put them all on the internet.  I’m waiting for it.
Anyway, love you dad!  Hope you had a happy father’s day!
