Our PA Trip

October 20, 2015 · 3 Comments

This post is well over due– I’d talked about my weekend that I got to meet Katie, and our DC weekend, but never actually got to the time spent with family.

When I first got home from the hospital, I had a bad case of baby blues.  Sheffield would non-stop cry some days, and so would I, and I needed some help.  My mom offered for me to come up there, and they would help me, so I could get some rest, and of course so they could see their grandbaby.

It was good for me, too — I hadn’t spent that much time with either one of my parents in a row since college.  My mom made me breakfast and lunch every day, and always took the early 2 am feeding — sometimes the next one too if I didn’t hear him crying.  It was honestly just what I needed.

He got to chill on the porch in the morning with Pap…

There were plenty of naps taken….

Sheffy had a good time, but so did I.  I got to go and get my nails done with my aunt — and her and my uncle took me to Ocean City, NJ for a day of basking in the sun, swimming, boardwalk cruising and pizza – another one of my aunts got to meet him — I got to get my hair done — Sheffy got some aunt Juney time — and I got to share late night vodka sodas with my mom while we watched Big Brother.

All in all, while I missed my husband, I’m really glad that I got to go.  It really was a good trip.

Did You Know…

April 17, 2015 · 5 Comments

That my family has a crest?!?  Yes, I didn’t either, but I feel like it makes me just that much more regal.  I mean there is a crest.  There’s even a knight for Pete’s sake!!  Granted this is my maiden name family crest, but still.  I tote my maiden name around as my middle name, because, well, the last name got me quite a few free drinks at bars.

I mean, you try shouting Canipe ($10 if you can pronounce correctly) in a loud crowded bar and see if you don’t get a few drinks.  I still have a credit card in this name — and still use it for that purpose.  #noshame

Also my family was a bunch of gangstas.  Beware.

Hope y’all have a great weekend!  We’re headed to Pepper Place again on Saturday to get some more local goodies!

Pennsylvania Weekend

December 10, 2014 · 2 Comments

So I didn’t come back Monday, as I said I might have.

But you know the holidays and how busy they are, like all the time, so I’ve opted for comfy PJ nights with the hubs sipping hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies.

But we did take a short trip up to PA (short as in four days, because that drive is anything BUT short) to see my mom and sister.

I got to see my aunt and uncle, eat my mom’s spaghetti (which is the shizzzzzz  by the way), go shopping in Lititz for candy galore, and head to a hockey game.

Reading, PA has also made national news with their ugly tree, which they have dubbed the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree — single red ball and all.

Here’s some pics from our trip:

this is for real y’all — my mom has the leg lamp.  the soft glow of electric sex gleaming in the window….

stell-dog didn’t dig being thrown in front of the fire.  at all.  but dammit, I needed a cute picture.

sweaty hockey players, fun music, and the cast of Frozen was there –what else could you possibly want out of a night at the Reading Royals hockey game?

the poor sad little Christmas tree.

stella was not happy with the 13 hour car rides, especially when we had all the treasures in the back seat.

It was definitely a welcome break — and now I have a table of Santas/snowmen/assorted holiday decorations and candy from Wilbur’s.  And of course getting to chill with the family.

All in all — it was pretty great.

Kansas Day 2

September 29, 2014 · Leave a Comment

So day two, of course, was filled with fun.  We went to the Modern Art Museum, after having an amazing lunch at Winstead’s (which is a fun little diner with hamburgers, tuna melts, hot dogs, fries, etc), and they have the most awesome milkshakes known to man.  We all got the medium, but would have been ok with the small.  Oh well — I got the vanilla, and it was freaking awesome.  We took a few fun photos at the museums and at lunch.  Also, don’t let your eyes deceive you — those are giant shuttlecocks that you’re seeing.

That Friday night, we got to head out to see the soccer team, Sporting KC.  We’d gone with my dad once before, and it was a great time.  See, his company has something to do with the owning or something of this team, so he gets really fancy comfy seats, with all you can eat/drink.  It’s a pretty freaking sweet deal.  Guess on the over/under of vodka sodas this girl had while there.  I won’t even make myself appear to be an alcoholic on this here blog.  BUT we did get to check out Zusi (USA men’s soccer…world cup?  still no…anyway, he’s quite beautiful, even in person), AND they were playing Houston, so the themed food for the night was Mexican.

You could pretty much say that this girl was in heaven.

(if I would have felt like it, I probably could have cropped out girl and her beer, but alas, I am lazy.)

Day two was super fun — only two more to go.  One to recap the alcoholicness that occurs during the first Auburn game, and a visit to a winery.  I swear, I will get them all knocked out.  Promise.

B & L by the Beach

September 10, 2014 · Leave a Comment

So of course when at the beach, it’s only customary to take a crap-ton of pictures by the water, right?  I know we’re not the only ones . It’s been a super busy week for me that will end in a girl’s trip to Chicago, so I’m just trying to keep my cool.  Does anyone have any seminars on how to say, NO?!?

Anyway, this was one of the more fun beach trips I’ve taken, and I got to spend it with my dad which only made it cooler.  Plus seeing Juney — but you already saw all those pictures.  I guess I’m finally getting around to dumping all of these trips out on ya, huh?

Sorry, I’m not sorry.

It’s perfectly acceptable to look like shit at the beach.

And just because I’ve always been afraid to post a picture of myself in a bikini, I’m just going to go ahead and get it over with.  Once you go bikini on the interwebs, there’s no going back.

And there you have it world.  Laura in a bikini.  First ever bikini picture on this blog, and this little biotch has been around for awhile.

It was an awesome trip, and I definitely have more to say on the subject, but for now, those clear blue waters and those chiseled abs of mine (hahaha!) will have to do you.
