Kansas – The Conclusion

December 16, 2014 · 2 Comments

Yes, I am aware that this trip occurred over three months ago.  So sue me.  Sometimes I just lose track of time, and I can get very scatterbrained or super excited about something else, and just throw other things to the back burner .

It’s a quality trait in what they “addictive personalities.”

Quite charming, no?

So to finish out the Kansas trip, we actually got to watch the first Auburn game of the season out there.  We got to drink many many drinks, take shots of moonshine, enjoy pre-game mojitos, and drink lots of vodka, because I mean, what’s an Auburn football game without a little to drink, amiright?!

Auburn looked terrible, but they did end up beating Arkansas.  Oh, and did I mention that we got to have Joe’s Kansas City BBQ (previously known as Oklahoma Joe’s)?  Talk about the best damn BBQ in the world.  We got pork and beef and a gillion sauces.  There’s only a few things I love more than KC BBQ.  Oh yeah, and the guy at the bank asking if my dad and I were Alabama fans.  Yes, dude, I’m an Alabama fan in my orange and blue, and so was my dad in his shirt that plainly read Auburn on it.  #wareagle

So on Sunday, we had some breakfast (where I proceeded to drink an entire bottle of Barefoot Pink Bubbly all to myself), and then we went off to a vineyard out in the KC boondocks: Riverside.

We actually tried all of their wines, and they weren’t too bad.  We even came back with two bottles from the place – both ports, and both delicious.

Dad and B even got bourbon flights! I mean, what else can you ask for at a vineyard?!

I also love taking pictures of my dad when he doesn’t know I’m doing it.  And I know he loves it too.

This last picture is of a wine slush.  YES!  WINE SLUSH.  It was soooo good.

We all got a little afternoon tipsy, and then on the way home stopped at a liquor/grocery store in Missouri, where we stocked up on liquor and Sheboygan brats, which are now sadly eaten.

All in all, it was a pretty fun trip, and even reminiscing three months later was fun!

Kansas Day 2

September 29, 2014 · Leave a Comment

So day two, of course, was filled with fun.  We went to the Modern Art Museum, after having an amazing lunch at Winstead’s (which is a fun little diner with hamburgers, tuna melts, hot dogs, fries, etc), and they have the most awesome milkshakes known to man.  We all got the medium, but would have been ok with the small.  Oh well — I got the vanilla, and it was freaking awesome.  We took a few fun photos at the museums and at lunch.  Also, don’t let your eyes deceive you — those are giant shuttlecocks that you’re seeing.

That Friday night, we got to head out to see the soccer team, Sporting KC.  We’d gone with my dad once before, and it was a great time.  See, his company has something to do with the owning or something of this team, so he gets really fancy comfy seats, with all you can eat/drink.  It’s a pretty freaking sweet deal.  Guess on the over/under of vodka sodas this girl had while there.  I won’t even make myself appear to be an alcoholic on this here blog.  BUT we did get to check out Zusi (USA men’s soccer…world cup?  still no…anyway, he’s quite beautiful, even in person), AND they were playing Houston, so the themed food for the night was Mexican.

You could pretty much say that this girl was in heaven.

(if I would have felt like it, I probably could have cropped out girl and her beer, but alas, I am lazy.)

Day two was super fun — only two more to go.  One to recap the alcoholicness that occurs during the first Auburn game, and a visit to a winery.  I swear, I will get them all knocked out.  Promise.

What Happens When You Give a Dog a Kong

September 25, 2014 · 1 Comment

When we were in Kansas City, my step-mom and my dad taught me something to make dogs quiet and un-annoying.  Stell-dog has a ton of Kong toys, but I didn’t really know the true purpose of those toys until I got there.  Apparently you are supposed to fill those things with all sorts of things dogs love, and they just sit there and lick them and lick them.  Apparently they even have recipes online for these things.  I am so serious.  Please tell me that I’m not the only person that didn’t know about this.

We’ve decided that we’ll use these for treats during Auburn and Packer games so Stell-dog doesn’t get too upset.  She’s in love with them — stuff that thing with some peanut butter and dog treats, and she’s occupied for at least an hour.  Please take a look at what happens when you give these things to dogs, how much food should feed your puppy can read https://goodpuppyfood.com/blog/how-much-food-should-i-feed-my-puppy/.   It’s a damn miracle.

Plus, I just wanted to show you a million pictures of the cuteness of Stella and my dad’s Rosie.  And to think, these weren’t even half of the pictures I took of them while there.  Why yes, yes I do have a problem.

Christmas in KC

December 31, 2013 · Leave a Comment

Want to be jealous for just a sec?  (Well unless you live in the arctic circle of the US)
I had a white Christmas!
It was so great to be able to spend Christmas with my dad, step-mom and step-brother & new wife.   It was great to be able to just get away from work for awhile, to drink, eat, and watch Packer football.  Even to actually get my back hot, because it was cold enough to sit in front of a fire.
Which I did.  Even when it was burning the crap out of my back, because well, down in these parts, a fire is hardly called for.
I don’t have too much to say, so I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
saying good-bye to my baby girl.

dad’s christmas tree.

irish coffee after dinner.

half marathon training don’t stop just because it’s christmas.

brats for the packer game.

z-man from oklahoma joe’s.  oh yes.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas filled with fun, family and friends!

Garment – Kansas City

May 23, 2013 · Leave a Comment

While in Kansas City, I went to heaven.

It was a placed called Garment.

It combined two of my most favorite things:  clothing and alcohol.

It was a really cute boutique shop, with a bar in the middle.  The people that owned it were so sweet and helpful.  I also couldn’t leave without bringing back a few cute tops.  I probably could have bought everything in there and been completely okay with it.

They had this cute little chalkboard trash can outside of their store.  The two above were my favorites.

Next time we’re in Kansas City, we will definitely be visiting again.
