Girl’s Trip to Chicago

September 30, 2014 · 1 Comment

Okay, so only a few more trip posts and then I’m done.   A couple weekends ago my friend and I took a girl’s only trip to Chicago.  I had never been there before, and it was time to hit a city with just a girl friend where we could eat, drink dance — do whatever we wanted.  As a married girl, sometimes in life, that’s just needed.  Now, I’m not saying that I hate being married, but at some point, it’s good to just be around a good girl friend.

We both flew up — she from Atlanta and me from Birmingham — and met around the same time in Chicago.  From there, we got in a cab, checked into the hotel, and darted to find some deep dish pizza and beer.  We were also given shots — shots of Rumchata and Fireball.  We had never heard of it, but I rarely say no (to shots anyway), and have to say it was delicious.

After a night of dancing and Rumchata & Fireball shots, we headed back to the hotel for sleep.  We got up the next morning and immediately sought food.  We were both pretty disappointed in breakfast, which I guess is why I can’t remember the name of the joint, but I’m not 100% sure I can blame it on them, since we were pretty hungover, and the place didn’t serve alcohol.  After breakfast, we decided to go around and walk to see the bean, the fountain, the river…all the Chicago stuff.  Even the Trump tower thing.

That night was spent at a fancy dinner at Knife and Tine, where we shared some apps and alcohol.  Then that night was spent drinking Chicago out of vodka.  Our last morning, we woke up to go have brunch.  We had some hair of the dog and some greasy food — and went to hang out at a little English pub place to drink some more and watch some football.

All in all, it was a weekend of debauchery and fun, which is exactly what a girl’s weekend should be.  Believe it or not, we only got two actual pictures together.  I actually think that was a sign of a good weekend — just too much fun to pull the camera out.

I definitely can’t wait until we get to do it again!

Kansas Day 2

September 29, 2014 · Leave a Comment

So day two, of course, was filled with fun.  We went to the Modern Art Museum, after having an amazing lunch at Winstead’s (which is a fun little diner with hamburgers, tuna melts, hot dogs, fries, etc), and they have the most awesome milkshakes known to man.  We all got the medium, but would have been ok with the small.  Oh well — I got the vanilla, and it was freaking awesome.  We took a few fun photos at the museums and at lunch.  Also, don’t let your eyes deceive you — those are giant shuttlecocks that you’re seeing.

That Friday night, we got to head out to see the soccer team, Sporting KC.  We’d gone with my dad once before, and it was a great time.  See, his company has something to do with the owning or something of this team, so he gets really fancy comfy seats, with all you can eat/drink.  It’s a pretty freaking sweet deal.  Guess on the over/under of vodka sodas this girl had while there.  I won’t even make myself appear to be an alcoholic on this here blog.  BUT we did get to check out Zusi (USA men’s soccer…world cup?  still no…anyway, he’s quite beautiful, even in person), AND they were playing Houston, so the themed food for the night was Mexican.

You could pretty much say that this girl was in heaven.

(if I would have felt like it, I probably could have cropped out girl and her beer, but alas, I am lazy.)

Day two was super fun — only two more to go.  One to recap the alcoholicness that occurs during the first Auburn game, and a visit to a winery.  I swear, I will get them all knocked out.  Promise.

B & L by the Beach

September 10, 2014 · Leave a Comment

So of course when at the beach, it’s only customary to take a crap-ton of pictures by the water, right?  I know we’re not the only ones . It’s been a super busy week for me that will end in a girl’s trip to Chicago, so I’m just trying to keep my cool.  Does anyone have any seminars on how to say, NO?!?

Anyway, this was one of the more fun beach trips I’ve taken, and I got to spend it with my dad which only made it cooler.  Plus seeing Juney — but you already saw all those pictures.  I guess I’m finally getting around to dumping all of these trips out on ya, huh?

Sorry, I’m not sorry.

It’s perfectly acceptable to look like shit at the beach.

And just because I’ve always been afraid to post a picture of myself in a bikini, I’m just going to go ahead and get it over with.  Once you go bikini on the interwebs, there’s no going back.

And there you have it world.  Laura in a bikini.  First ever bikini picture on this blog, and this little biotch has been around for awhile.

It was an awesome trip, and I definitely have more to say on the subject, but for now, those clear blue waters and those chiseled abs of mine (hahaha!) will have to do you.

Sister Selfies

September 8, 2014 · 1 Comment

My sister and I don’t get to see each other very often, so when we do, it’s usually just a gigantic selfie fest, or asking whoever is around us to take our picture.  Sometimes it can get a little ridiculous, as you’re about to see.

I got off work early when her and her fiance were down in Destin with my dad already.  So, naturally as we were waiting for our table at dinner, the picture snapping began.  Without further ado, here you go.

These are some of the beauties I stole my dad.  Isn’t my sister gooooorgeous?!?

And now, because it wouldn’t be me if I didn’t iphone everything….

And just to make sure she’ll love me forever…a picture of her eating her first raw oyster….

Love you Juney!  Miss you bunches!

Five Years

July 1, 2014 · 6 Comments

I have been an awful terrible blogger.  I barely wrote last week, and decided that starting Monday’s post at 930pm was a good idea.  In addition to that, I barely commented on anyone’s blog, and for that I am truly covered in blog girl shame.  In all fairness, we did have internet problems, and my computer is dumb.
So had it not been for super awesome Casey from AT&T coming to fix our shizz, you would be left without my amazing words of wisdom for today.
Not that I have many, because, well it’s 930 at night, and I want to go to bed.
This past weekend hubs and I spent our five year anniversary in Charleston.  Our five years have been sprinkled with hard times — really hard times — and for some reason through everything, it has prevailed.  It’s not perfect, nor will it ever be.

It was a great trip, and I’ll indulge more details later.  I just had to clear my blogger conscience and post something.
