This was by far my most favorite Christmas ever. It just was. Getting to spend last year with baby for his first Christmas was great, but this year, getting to see his smiling face when he walked in to see all of his presents — you guys, that face — it is something I won’t forget all too soon.
My mom and step-dad came down this year to celebrate with us – they came down on Thursday and were here just in time for lunch. We went to Sam’s Super Samwiches in Soho for hot dogs all the way, and they were so good. Of course, my picky child opted to not eat hot dogs and ate applesauce pouches instead. I swear, I have no idea how that kid is growing — he practically lives on applesauce and pancakes. Anyway – that night we just chilled with some movies, and turned in pretty early.
Friday we went and got some shopping done for our Christmas meal, and again just sort of hung around the house. They don’t get to see my little guy that often, so we spent a lot of time just hanging around and playing. We did end up getting to go to Saw’s for some BBQ deliciousness.

Saturday we went to go see Santa. And that was a massive disaster. I still can’t figure out why he was so terrified of Santa, even while I was standing up there with him – he was just not having any part of it. After that, B went home with boo to watch some football, and we went to Trader Joe’s and to Chuy’s for some Christmas eve margaritas and guacamole. B made us an amazing Christmas eve lunch of pork tenderloin and twice baked potatoes – I’m pretty sure I’d be just skin and bones if I wouldn’t have married that guy. We opened all of our presents on Christmas Eve and had appetizers and watched Christmas Vacation. We wanted Christmas to be all about our little guy, so we made sure to get all of our stuff out of the way beforehand.
Christmas morning!! Oh, it was the best. I have never seen so many smiles from that little baby. My heart absolutely melted. He sat in daddy’s lap opening all of his presents so mama could get pictures.
We had an amazing dinner of ham with all of the fixings while boo took his afternoon nap. It was so fun being able to make the sweet potato pie and deviled eggs with my mom ( I know now what I was doing wrong for my eggs to not taste like hers — and it will be fixed now), and it was so fun to hear the boys in the living room playing with boo and his new toys. It is definitely a Christmas that will go down as one of my favorites.
I know this pic is a little blurry – and the photo cred belongs to my step-dad, but LOOK AT THAT SMILE. I am so thankful this face was caught. I hope you all had a Christmas with smiles that big!!
