This Fourth of July we flew out to see my dad in Kansas City, and we pretty much did all the things. Our flight out there was much better than our flight almost exactly a year ago, probably because we let him watch TV pretty much the whole time and won parents of the year awards.
So in KC we:
// Went to a Sporting KC match. Sheffield actually lasted until half time, and he seemed to really enjoy soccer. And the cake pops.
// Went to have BBQ and Joe’s KC (formerly Oklahoma Joe’s, and I almost refuse to stop calling it that).
// Played in the pool that Poppa bought for him and splashed and played in the sun.
// Had an early birthday celebration complete with cake and ice cream.
// Mama ran in a 5k that was supposed to be a 10k. There were thunderstorms in the area, so they canceled the 10k course and everyone ran the 5k. Good news? I PR’d again. Bad news? I got soaking wet, and it really really sucked.
// Went to Deanna Rose’s Children Hampstead and pet goats, saw cows, fed the ducks, and ate really good vanilla ice cream.
// Ate the juiciest watermelon ever and played with sparklers.
All in all it was a pretty great trip filled with so many new memories. I can’t wait until he can actually stay up late enough to watch some big fireworks.
I hope y’all had a fantastic Fourth!
