Despite having to work Saturday and Monday, we were able to have a pretty great weekend. While I was in Vegas, the husband when to Big Lots to get a pool for the summer. Sheffield has taken to being in the water and around water so much, that we justified that purchase by saying it will account for hours of summer fun. And being in the pool and sun = one extremely tired, happy baby. So, money well spent.
The majority of Saturday was spent hanging out in the pool. Sheffield is just tall enough to be able to walk around in it by himself, and he absolutely loves being on the floats. Later that afternoon, after he’d had his fill of being in the water, we went inside to pop some popcorn and watch a movie. Sheffield definitely gave daddy all the snuggles.
Sunday, Sheffield and I headed to the park in the morning while B attended the wedding of one of his coworkers. We were the only ones there, so he got the entire park to himself. Which was great! After naps, we headed to Trader Joe’s and Bluff Park Ice Cream for an afternoon treat. And yes, he did put all of those stickers all over himself. And he stole my cookie dough ice cream right out from under me.
Monday was pretty rainy, but we got about an hour or so in the pool and about an hour or so at the park, too. B had gotten some ribs from Costco, and even boogs ate some of the ribs right off the bone. We were so impressed with his boldness. And, because, meat. And his aversion to it.
Anyway, it was a pretty great weekend. I love getting those glorious three day weekends, where I can spend all of my time with my guys. It’s always so tough to have to come back to work. We are also thankful for the reason to have that extra day, and are humbled by the men and women who lost their lives so we were able to have it.
I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day.
