I woke up this morning in an amazing mood – I’m not really sure why, but I just woke up happy. Which is usually super rare, because my anxiety usually kicks into high gear worrying about work and Sheffield and everything else — but for some reason, I just felt good. I felt like myself – I was just going to have a good day. I had my 2000s hip-hop station going on my Pandora, and everything was amazing.
As then as life sometimes does when you’re being too cocky, she knocked me down a few pegs. I left the lights on the car last night, so of course the battery was dead this morning. Then right as I was pulling up into work, I got a call from daycare with “Sheffield has hand foot mouth, and you need to come get him.” Thanks, life.
So I got to come into work an hour later than normal, and behind the 8 ball. B decided he’d stay home with Sheffield today, since I’d done it a few days already this year when daycare was out,.But instead of letting this try to get me down today, I thought of a few great things from this week:
// I bicep curled 2o pound free-weights last night. That’s a 20 pound weight in both hands y’all! And I deadlifted 25s. I felt so strong. I am absolutely amazed at the progress I’ve made by going to Orange Theory — I’m never going to quit!
// I finally got over being afraid to cut open an avocado, and did it for the first time this week. I was so proud of myself.
// B and I got to have lunch together at a great new place near Railroad Park called Cosecha Urban Kitchen. Just look at the deliciousness below! I got the philly cheesesteak bowl, and B got a taco, a tamale and the Mexican street corn. All of it was great, and they have a little bar as well.
// I haven’t spent a dime this week. Not one. B bought lunch on Wednesday, and I have brought my lunch with me every other day. I have also kept the Target trips at lunch at bay, so that helps, too.
// Sheffield’s face while eating mashed potatoes. This kid L-O-V-E-S mashed potatoes.
// I have read four books in the last two weeks! FOUR! That’s more than I read in the whole last half of last year! I can’t wait to join in that book link-up all the cool kids do.
// I mentioned this above, but this week, I have felt more like myself than I have in a long time. I’m not quite sure how to explain it – maybe a combination of finally accepting the removal of some toxicity from my life, or my newfound direction for my blog that I talked about on Monday. Or the newly dyed brown hair. I don’t know – but it feels great.
This weekend we hope to go and cheer on the Mercedes marathoners downtown (next year I hope to be one!), eat French toast, make Valentine’s, and hopefully kick this hand foot mouth. I hope y’all have a great weekend too!
