Friday, right after work, we headed over to Cahaba Heights to try the new Martin’s BBQ Joint. We had heard great things about it, and there was a line out the door when we left. So glad we got there early – I tried the whole hog sandwich, B got their wings, and Sheff actually ate all of his chicken fingers. I really loved their BBQ sauce – and B compared their wings to his other favorite smoked wing place in Bham, Moe’s. After our early dinner, we headed over to the Summit for their Lights Up event. They had a fun parade with bands, old cars & firetrucks, and of course, Santa. Sheffield even got to see his first fireworks. It was such a fun night!
Saturday we got to try the new brewery in town: Birmingham District. I really loved their IPA, and B loved all of them. After that, we headed over to Hop City and got to see our pal, Ralph. Always a super fun day getting to run into him!
The weather was gorgeous this weekend, so we went outside and raked all the leaves into a giant pile so Sheff could jump in! He wanted to make the biggest pile ever, so he had to help rake them in. We went on a short mommy/sheff walk around the neighborhood. He was so amped about getting to walk by himself and not having to hold my hand. I only shed one tiny tear – my little honey is growing up! We ended the day with a family movie night watching the Grinch and having popcorn.
I can’t believe this week is already Thanksgiving – my belly is so ready for stuffing and mashed potatoes, and family. Hope y’all had a great weekend as well and have a happy turkey week!
