I already haven’t started out 2019 the best with the blogging. I have a ton of “draft” posts and recipes I want to make, but to be honest, I’ve just been flat out lazy. B and I started Jack Ryan, and that has pretty much taken up our nights – because it’s so freaking awesome, and if you’re not watching it, I’m not sure why!!
Anyway, Friday night was pretty low-key with some wine, music listening, microwave tacos and Stella snuggling. I know I touched briefly about the bad news we got for our girl, but to make it brief, her kidneys are failing, and she won’t make it out of this year. We are just enjoying the time we do have left with her, allowing her to be on the bed, couch, pretty much wherever she wants – and giving her all the kisses.
Saturday, we finally met up with Nadine and her crew at Back Forty. We had amazing pimento cheese and burgers, and the kids got to run around outside for a bit – even though it was a little bit chilly. By the afternoon, the rain had started, so I spent the majority of the day purging and organizing. Y’all – I got rid of three garbage bags full of JUNK. It feels so good to be rid of all of that stuff – and NO, I haven’t been watching Marie Kondo.
On Sunday, I met up with my sister at Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila for a belated birthday lunch. We ate a whole thing of large queso, and stuffed our faces with burritos and quesadillas. Their queso is some of the best I’ve had in Birmingham, so we’ll definitely be back. After lunch, we did a little bit of shopping and then headed home.
We spent the afternoon making from-scratch Valentine’s complete with glitter that got absolutely everywhere, but thanks to my good friend, wine, it didn’t really bother me all that much. I also organized my make-up drawer, which has always been a hot mess. I’m curious as to how long it will last, but good intentions and all that, right?
I’m hoping to get back into the blogging groove soon – with some new fun and easy recipes, and Birmingham eats posts. We have a few fun things planned for next weekend including an MLK 5k run, a birthday party and watching the NFC championship with friends. I hope you guys are having a great week so far!
