That relaxing weekend I was so hoping for? Didn’t exactly come to fruition – as it filled up pretty quickly. But not in a bad way – just in a “I wish there was more time to do everything” kind of way.
Sheff walked home with one of his buds from school on Friday, so B and I went to check out Lowe’s for some quotes on our upcoming kitchen renovation. We weren’t thinking we were going to completely gut it, but now we might be. I’m excited dreaming up new kitchen options. After we picked up Sheff from his friends, we ordered some pizza and went home to watch Homeward Bound. B and I stayed up pretty late just chatting and putting some finishing touches on the upstairs in the house – it was after midnight before we finally called it a night.
Saturday morning, I got up and got a ride in. After that, Sheff and I got showers and headed over to Homewood Bagel Company to pick up their king cake. Our goal is to try every king cake Birmingham has to offer – we will report back! Then we drove over to Nadine’s for gift exchange and hanging out. It was so nice to see them and just sit and have a cup of coffee and hang out. Eventually we were beckoned home – we stopped and got Chick-Fil-A for everyone for lunch, and it was delicious. We put Sheff down for a nap since we had tickets for the hockey game that night. We met up with some of B’s coworkers to watch the Birmingham Bulls – and Sheffield had a blast playing with some his coworkers kids. They went down and pressed up against the glass to watch the action. It was so sweet. It was bedtime for all when we got home!
Sunday, Sheff started his Y-basketball league. He did really well! Afterward, the court was still empty, so we played a little 2 on 1: Sheffield and I vs. Bennett. It was a lot of fun – I haven’t actually “played’ like that in a long time, and I know Sheffield enjoyed it. Hoping the courts will be empty for our next couple of practices as well! Later that night, his babysitter came over so B and I could squeeze in one more date night before she went back to school. We started at Casual Pint, got some sushi, walked around Target and then got some ice cream. It was a great way to end the weekend.
This week is shaking up to be a busy one work-wise, and Sheff has his first standardized testing on Thursday. Hope everyone has had a good start to their week!!
Sounds like a fun and full weekend!! Hope the hockey game was fun!
We had a blast!!!
So glad that we got to spend some time together on Saturday! It had been far too long. I cant wait to see what you guys do with your kitchen! I haven’t played basketball in yearssssss. It was the one sport I enjoyed.
