This long weekend was so fun! It was so nice getting to have my dad here – and to have a day of fun, plus a few nice relaxing days.
Saturday, we headed over to try a new BBQ joint in Avondale, Rodney Scott BBQ, and it was delicious! Even Sheff ate all of his chicken fingers – he was obsessed with their honey mustard and was just eating it with his fingers, too. I definitely want to go back and try their turkey and hush puppies. After lunch, we used our normal babysitter (she’s home for summer!! hooray!) for the afternoon, so we could go and have some adult time. We met up with my sister and her boyfriend at Top Golf. We then went over to Woolworth to play some giant Pac-Man, and try our hand at duckpin bowling. It is a lot harder than it looks, but we all enjoyed some drinks (and tried their bacon and artichoke dip – which was amazing!). We then ended the night grabbing some dinner at Mellow Mushroom. B and I split our favorite – the white pizza and some cheesy bread. We then came home and sat out on the patio with some more adult beverages and just talked until about midnight. It was such a fun day- and we usually never get to just have adult time to hang out, so it was really nice to get to have that. Many thanks to our babysitter for hanging out with our kiddo!
Sunday was a day of chill – after our all day shenanigans on Saturday, we all could have used it! My dad brought us over some doughnuts, and we lounged outside and played in the pool pretty much all day. My sister and I made a trip to Home Goods, and then over to Publix to pick up hot dogs and all the fixings for a hot dog cookout. We all had dinner and then pretty much called it a night!
Monday, we were up and outside around 9 in the morning. Sheff was ready to get in that pool! He has gotten so good at independent play, even while just playing in the pool. As an aside, it’s been so amazing to see his imagination blossom – I hope he continues to love making up scenarios with his toys and himself – I would love to see a little writer come out in that dude. Anyway, we spent the entire day outside, playing with water balloons and in the pool. We had a BBQ feast complete with bacon wrapped green beans, pasta salad, chips & dip, and two desserts. It was such an awesome afternoon, and we were so lucky to have such amazing weather. It was so great spending all that time with family and just getting to chill out.
We did finally get to Wine Country on Netflix this weekend – loved! And I finally got the first episode of The Bachelorette in – I know it’s straight up garbage, but I love it so much. I took huge advantage of the sandals sale at Target, and plan on purging a lot of my older ones that are so filthy dirty and ones that I just don’t love anymore. Looking forward to another fun weekend planned ahead – hope y’all had a great one and an awesome short week!
