After the fiasco of me not getting my time off, I was more than ready for the weekend. We let Sheff basically have a free day on Friday, meaning all the screen time he could possibly handle. B and I have never been too strict with it anyway, but it was his very first day of having a summer vacation, the weather wasn’t great, and well, he’s stuck with two full-time working parents. We ordered pizza and watched Dog Gone Trouble on Netlix. It was such a cute movie!! I was exhausted, so I went to bed around the same time as Sheff.
On Saturday, we had Sheff’s baseball game at 11. They were playing the only undefeated team in their league, and they only had six players due to the holiday. And they ended up losing by only one run!! We were so proud of those kids – they did so well! After the game, we headed over to Nadine’s for the first time in a LONG LONG time!! The kids played all afternoon; Nadine made us some fresh strawberry margaritas, and we ordered burgers and just hung out. It was so good for the soul to see them – it makes me happy just writing this. Plus – I mean, look at how happy the kids were!
Sunday and Monday were a blur of pool time. My sister came over on Monday, and we had a cookout. B made his ribs, and we had potato and pasta salad, and patriotic brownies for dessert. I had to work a fair amount, but I tried to not let it dampen my spirits. We had a really nice time just hanging out and being in the sun.
And that was that – I would say I’m glad for a short week, but since I normally work weekends anyway, it’ll be like every other week. I hope you all got a nice relaxing weekend, and have had a good start to the week! We’ve got baseball playoffs coming up this weekend, so send us some good luck!
